UNET / PROTOCOL & PRODUCT DOCUMENTATION
Unet Docs
Unet is a self-custody social platform native to Robinhood’s Ethereum Layer 2. It combines a portable social graph, real-time communication, creator markets, and transparent onchain settlement.
01 — Architecture
Unet separates the social experience from the client that renders it. Accounts, relationships, and market activity are designed to be addressable across compatible applications rather than locked inside a single closed feed. Robinhood Layer 2 provides the settlement environment for protocol-native actions while the application layer optimizes for quick reading, posting, and conversation.
Self-custody
Users control their wallet and identity credentials. Unet is designed so that access to an account is not dependent on a custodial social-media login.
Onchain coordination
Ownership, key-market interactions, and fee routing can be auditable through the chain, with inexpensive Layer 2 execution intended for frequent activity.
02 — Identity & profiles
A Unet profile is the social identity used to publish, follow, discover, and communicate. Profiles can include a handle, avatar, bio, links, social context, and wallet-connected proof. The network model is built around portability: a person’s audience and history should remain useful even as clients and interfaces evolve.
- Wallet-connected account creation and signing.
- Portable profiles, handles, follows, and social relationships.
- Public profile pages with posts, replies, media, and key-market context.
- Identity-aware discovery through follows, communities, and shared interactions.
- Account recovery and client authorization flows designed around user-controlled credentials.
03 — Social primitives
Unet is built around the familiar mechanics that make a social network useful, while preserving a composable data model. The feed is a view over people, communities, and activity—not the product’s sole source of truth.
Publishing
Create text posts, media posts, threads, quote posts, links, polls, and long-form updates. Posts support replies, reposts, reactions, bookmarks, shares, mentions, and rich embeds.
Discovery
Following and curated feeds, topic and community channels, search, trending activity, suggested accounts, profile recommendations, and content filtering help people find relevant conversation.
Communities
Topic spaces can organize members, moderators, rules, posts, and member-only context. Community tools support healthier discussion without requiring every conversation to be global.
Notifications
Activity notifications surface replies, reactions, follows, mentions, key-market events, invitations, and messages. Notification preferences let users control the signal they receive.
04 — Messaging & groups
Private communication sits alongside public publishing. Direct messages and group conversations make it possible to continue a thread, share a post privately, coordinate a community, or start a new conversation without leaving the network.
- One-to-one and group messaging with message requests and conversation controls.
- Post sharing, media attachments, link previews, reactions, replies, and mentions inside conversations.
- Community chat context with membership and moderation tooling.
- Read state, message notifications, mute controls, reporting, blocking, and account-level privacy preferences.
05 — Creator keys & marketplace
Keys represent creators as an asset: buy, hold, and trade them on Unet. As a creator’s community grows, keys increase in value and fees generated go back into a flywheel. Key activity gives supporters a direct way to participate in a creator’s upside while providing creators a protocol-native monetization surface.
Key lifecycle
- Discover a creator through their profile, posts, community, or marketplace listing.
- Buy a key through a transparent market interaction settled on Robinhood Layer 2.
- Hold or trade keys as market participation changes, subject to liquidity and price risk.
- View creator context, key supply, market activity, and applicable fees before transacting.
- Creators can use their profile and community to publish, engage supporters, and build durable social reach.
06 — Fees & buy-and-burn
Unet’s intended economic model routes revenue generated through creator markets and eligible product features into a buyback-and-burn flywheel. Fees are not a promise of return: they are protocol mechanics intended to align network usage, creators, and long-term ecosystem stewardship.
Revenue sources
Marketplace transaction fees and future premium social features may contribute to protocol revenue, subject to the applicable product configuration.
Flywheel
Under the intended model, revenue can purchase designated Unet assets in the open market and permanently remove them through a burn process, with activity and transactions auditable onchain where implemented.
Fee rates, supported assets, burn timing, market mechanics, and governance parameters can change as the product evolves. Always review the current transaction screen and relevant smart-contract details before interacting with any market.
07 — Safety, privacy & risk
Unet provides account and content controls including blocking, muting, reporting, moderation workflows, message controls, and notification preferences. The platform is designed to minimize data collection needed for operation and does not sell personal data for targeted advertising.
Keys and other digital assets can be volatile, illiquid, and speculative. Nothing in Unet, its interfaces, or this documentation is investment, legal, tax, or financial advice. Participation is optional, and no return, fee distribution, or value appreciation is guaranteed.
